I have a little condition that my sister and her friend have labeled "reverse anorexia." It is not in any medical books or the dictionary, but if it were, it would go something like this:
reverse anorexia: noun, 1. The opposite of anorexia. 2. The belief that one is skinnier than one actually is. Note: Women are particularly prone to this condition shortly after giving birth.
You will know you have this condition if you think "Gee, I'm feeling pretty thin. I'm absolutely sure those jeans will fit since they were so baggy before I got pregnant." Then you go to try them on they won't fit over your thighs, let alone zip up. You will know you have an advanced case of reverse anorexia if you actually start to believe that, despite what the scale says, the reason your clothes are tight is because your husband dried them when he wasn't supposed to and they all shrunk... ALL of them!
P.S. Seeing yourself on camera or in photos helps to cure this condition very quickly!

I think that I have suffered from this condition more than once. Thanks for diagnosing it for me. Hee Hee
Ha HA Ha HA Ha I have thought this forever but yes especially after giving birth. You crack me up thank you for writing it down I really appreciate it. Oh and PS you look absolutely beautiful always so no worries... maybe your husband did shrink your clothes?!?
I definitely had reverse anorexia after Spencer. I'd think "Hey I've lost 5 more pounds, those jeans should definitely fit by now" but I was only more depressed when they wouldn't zip up...after laying down...after holding my breath. You look great though even if you do have reverse anorexia!
way funny...I also think part of this condition (at least for me) is denying that eating cookies & chips and not really exercising has anything to do with the condition
I totally have this after giving birth. You are right, though, pictures cute it very quickly.
You are so funny and witty!! I know I have suffered from this for over 3 years now. Perhaps it's time to seek a professional for treatment!!
that is awesome! and yes, i am victim of this disorder too. I am prone to think that after I go to the gym once and have a really really great workout that my jeans will fit after I shower.
I just experienced this today in my shopping for a swimming suit. I grabbed the ones that should fit my thin body, but I could barely pull them up. Isn't it so fun to have your gut hang out your tankini!!
I love it! I always think the same thing after having a baby. I think I once tried jeans on a week after delivering...yes delusional! So funny.
Haha! This is great! Oh my! I definitely think I have reverse anorexia! I keep trying to get back into my clothes, but I'm not even close yet! I think I might have to quote this post on my blog if you don't mind! I love how you write things... you have completely captured how you feel after having a baby!
At least you're on the losing end!! I keep thinking I'm not gaining too much weight as my clothes keep getting tighter, and tighter! ugh!
I too am suffering of R.A.D. (Reverse Anorexia Disorder). It is nice to know that I am not the only one out there. I have been suffering of this condition alone for the past four months. Thank you for being brave enough to confront this issue publicly.
